Participation was very modest for this month with only 16 Unit 431 members participating. This could be partly due to the webmaster being abroad and not able to send out the usual splashy reminder. Only a terse email was sent out, apparently not enticing enough for our members who are used to more pizzazz.
A player who wishes to remain anonymous came in first with a score of 360 points.
Two players took advantage of our new Comments box with both providing astute comments on Problem 4:
- Comment 1: playing 2/1, 1NT forcing but not after *, so bid 2H by stretching range for that a bit…
- Comment 2: I am assuming 2NT to be a limit raise in hearts.
If you would like to see what the experts bid on these deals (and what they had to say about tricky Problem 4) , look in the October 2017 Bridge Bulletin (page 40). The e-version should be available around October 1st (logon to MyACBL on ACBL‘s website). The print edition usually arrives in your mailbox a week or two later.
The October edition of It’s Your Call, Victoria is now on our website. All Unit 431 members in good standing are encouraged to participate, with the opportunity of winning a free play at a local club. Click here to play.
