Problem 1

  • David Todd: 4H – Pass is too dangerous. I’ll pass 4S, tough problem.
  • bill birney: 3N – fast arrival to 3NT denies S stopper(s), and lack of heart suit, so shows preference for either minor, perfect.

Problem 2

  • David Todd: 3S – I would have raised the first time. Partner may have a spade stopper, even KJx

Problem 3

  • David Todd: 3N – No pussyfooting. the hand might be too good.

Problem 4

  • Tony Farr: 5N – Grand slam force with 2 of top 3 diamonds
  • James Macdonnell: 4C – If North answers with zero or one ace, sign off in 4 Spades. If he has both missing aces, go to slam.

Problem 5

  • alison campbell: 4S – seems like a possible game in spades is more likely than diamonds.
